22 months

You are showing so much personality lately, Katelyn!  This also includes temper tantrums.  You usually smack yourself in the stomach with a huff and a super angry face.  Even when you are really upset, you can sometimes listen to reason and work things out in a better way.  This doesn't always happen because there are things that you want that we are not willing to give you at that moment (ipod, tv shows, candy, ice cream, etc), so talking you out of that doesn't usually work.  You fell while at your GiGi's birthday party and split your forehead open.  My heart just sank when I saw the trickle of blood down your face.  You cried, but were so brave, and would have been fine after a few minutes to just go about your business, but we had to hold a cloth on it and bring you to the ER.  You were not happy about being there, and as soon as they started touching the area you became very upset.  Grandma did a great job calming you down.  It was a good thing Grandma and Pop pop were there.  When it came time to actually get the stitches, you were so brave!  We had to wrap you up so you would stay still and showed you Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  That helped a lot having a video going.  You cried some, but mostly you did so well!  You hated the part when he pulled the thread through since you really hate anything stringy like that.  You did great with the healing process too.  Kept a bandaid on for at least 5 days after (we also learned then you probably are allergic to latex).

You know so many songs and can sing them by yourself.  You want to do things for yourself now!  You have to sit and eat your meals in a "reg-er" (regular) chair.  I love the way you say things now, and you have so many words!  You can say your ABC's and are starting to learn to count past 10.  You love to pretend play too.  You cook a lot in your kitchen and play with your dolls in their dollhouse (with them talking to each other - "hi" "good" "sank-you").  You feed your babies their bottles, push them in the stroller, cover them with blankets, give them a binky.  You are really starting to get into music class.  You are starting to repeat tonal patterns and sing the songs there as well.  You have great days where you listen so well to mommy.  There are other days where you are too impulsive to listen before doing something.  Or, you do something while giggling and saying "funny."  You do that while running away sometimes which is scary for me.  You have learned the power of saying "1 more" or "1 video" (with ipod), "snuggle minute" (to get in our bed at night), "1 wipe."  You're really good at doing puzzles, but rarely do you have the patience to sit and do them.  You have shown an interest in lego duplo blocks which I am excited about.  Your animals are still a big hit with the barn.  Books are always a favorite of yours.  We have a cd in the car of "no more monkeys jumping on the bed" that you love to listen to and look at the book.  You always tell me when you have to go potty when we are out, but at home you pee your pants regularly.  I am not sure what to do about it.  It's a fight to make you go potty now and I hate it.  As much as I love everything you are learning and how smart you are - it's still hard to accept that you are not a baby anymore.
